CEO Root ID with less Children, than a below root.
« on: May 17, 2012, 08:18:09 AM »
On the nightly refresh, the build Hierarchy did not work correctly. THe CEO's Root ID has lass children than another Root ID and so showing the other Root as the top of chart. While reviewing the refresh log, I get the below

Building tree from source data 5/17/2012 1:46:38 AM
Info Processed 2539 nodes 5/17/2012 1:46:38 AM
Info Building tree... 5/17/2012 1:46:38 AM
Info Found 15967 duplicates 5/17/2012 1:46:38 AM
Info Done 5/17/2012 1:46:38 AM
Warning Removing extra roots (35 root(s) detected)

Any help is appreciated. Currently on OPE ver 4.3 build 1838, who to call for tech support.

Thank you,
Archana

Hello Archana,

Actually, this is the way the software is supposed to work, as this is how it determines who is the true top of chart (i.e. the CEO) and who are orphans.

The software determines the branch with the greatest number of subordinates and sets this to be the top of the chart - this way, single orphans and orphan branches do not take over the chart and render the real top of the chart an orphan.

If you have an orphan branch that has more subordinates than the main branch, this person's orphan branch will become the top of the chart. The only way to resolve this is to fix your data source and ensure that the orphan branch is folded into the hierarchy or to remove the branch from the data source entirely (if it is not part of the hierarchy).

As for contacting support, nothing has changed there. You can submit a support case at:
